The last will and testament of Rabbi Zalman Chaim Rivlin, Rabbi Yosef Rivlin’s brother. Jerusalem, [1894].
"I hereby reveal on this paper my opinion and desire and agreement and what will be written here will be executed by my son-in-law and his daughters"; the last will and testament of Rabbu Zalman Chaim Rivlin.
Rabbi Zalman Chaim ben Rabbi Avraham Binyomin Rivlin (1838-1902) the chief manager and examiner of the Etz Chaim Yeshiva of Jerusalem, the grandson of Rabbi Moshe Rivlin Maggid Meisharim and leader of the Ashkenazic community of Jerusalem and the brother of Yosef (Yosha) Rivlin, one of the builders of the neighborhoods of Jerusalem outside the walls. Rabbi Zalman Chaim’s first wife was the great-granddaughter of Ba’al HaTanya, Mrs. Rivkah Hinda, the daughter of Rabbi Moshe Zvi Pondminsky. After her passing, he married Mrs. Alte. Passed away in Sivan 1902.
In this will and testament, Rabbi Zalman Chaim took care of the payment of his debts, the division of his possessions between his wife and descendants, defined the funding of his maiden daughter’s marriage and the marriage of his granddaughter who lived in Hebron. He also gave instructions pertaining to the sale of his house. He appointed the following as the executors of his will: his famed brother Rabbi Yosef (Yoshe) Rivlin, his sons-in-law, Rabbi Eliyahu Mordechai Eisenstein – the scribe and confidante of Rabbi Shmuel Salant, and Rabbi Nachum Rogoznitzki (Rogin) – the future successor of his father-in-law as the manager of the Etz ChaimTalmud Torah and a close disciple of Rabbi Shmuel Salant.
