Tractate Psachim, Babylonian Talmud. Publshed by Rabbi Shimon Ze’ev Ehrnereich, Mishkoltz, [1941]. An edition that was published in Hungary in the midst of World War II due to the lack of Gemores after the destruction of the Jewish communities of Europe. 

"Since due to our sins the cities of Yisroel have been destroyed and those who used to publish and print Sifrei Kodesh are lost …"; Babylonian Talmud, Tractate Psachim, with Rashi’s commentary and Tosfos, masores Hashas, Ner Mitzvah and Torah or. Halachic and Aggadic innovations by the Maharsha, Maharshal and the Maharam of Lublin. Puplished by Shofar, Mishkoltz, [1941]. 

121, [23] leaves. Small facsimile edition of the Vienna 1863 edition of the Talmud. Bookplate and owner’s signature "Yehuda Schtekelmacher" on the title page.

With approbations by Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Ehrenreich Av Beis Din of Shamloi, the publisher’s father, and by Rabbi Yoel Teitelbaum Av Beis Din of Satmar. In their approbations, the rabbis wrote about the lack of Gemores due to the destruction and about the importance of this edition. In addiiton to this tractate, the publisher also started the printing of tractates Shabbas, Bava Kama, Bava Metzi’ah, Gittin, Kidushin and Chulin.

Rabbi Yehuda (Julius) ben Rabbi Moshe Schtekelmacher (1879-1957) – miracuously survived the battles of World War I as a soldier of the German army. In 1939, he was arrested with his wife by the Nazis and was imprisoned in the Dachau concentration camp. By the efforts of his son-in-law, he was given a forged British passport and as a "Bitish citizen" was released and sailed with his wife to Haifa. He lived in Kiryas Binyomin (today, a neighborhood of Kiryas Atta) until his passing in Kislev 1957.
