Rabbi Aharon Dov ben Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Dachovich – (was born in 1908) – a famed Gaon, a disciple of Rabbi Chaim Ozer and Rabbi Baruch Ber Leibovich in Vilna and a student of the Radin Yeshiva. In 1923, immigrated to the USA and studied at the Rabbi Yitzchak Elchanan Yeshiva. Received his rabbinic Semicha, studied law and became a lawyer. Served as Rav of Beis Sholom and as Rav of the Tiferes Torah synagogue of Brooklyn. Authored a book of Derashos on the Torah. Was a member of the rabbis’ committee of New York, a member of the executive committee of the Mizrachi Histadrus and as vice chairman of the Union of Rabbis.
The Ezras Torah organization was established during World War I for assisting rabbis and Bnei Torah and their families. Over the years, the organization helped Bnei Torah in Europe, the USA and Israel, in a wide variety of issues. For many years the institution was headed by the Gaon Rabbi Yosef Eliyahu Henkin and the Gaon Rabbi Yisroel Rosenberg.
