Document by the Rav of Jaffa and the colonies, Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak Hacohen Kook and the chairman of the excutive committee of Jaffa, Dr. Chaim Chisin, regularizing the service of getting Jewish passengers and their possessions off the ships to the Jaffa port. [Jaffa, early 20th century]. Rare. 

"We have authorized David Resnil to get Jewish passengers off the ships to the Jaffa port and bring them with their possessions … to where the passengers direct them"; document confirming the service of getting passengers and their possessions off the ships at the Jaffa port, detailing the cost of the service and the full responsibility for compensating for the loss of possessions. 

The document was printed in the name of Rabbi Kook, the Rav of Jaffa and the colonies, and Dr. Chaim Chisin, the chairman of the executive committee of Jaffa for managing the activity of Chovevei Zion in Eretz Yisroel on behalf of the Odessan Committee. An extremely rare document. 

 

[2] pp. thick paper, Hebrew and Russian. On the lower part, Rabbi Segal of Sdeh Lavan who lived in Neveh Sholom in Jaffa is mentioned. 

Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak Hacohen Kook, the first Ashkenazic Chief Rabbi of Eretz Yisroel, immigrated to Eretz Yisroel in 1904 and served first as the Rav of Jaffa and the colonies. Established a yeshiva in the Neveh Sholom neighborhood of Jaffa. 

Chaim Isser Chisin a Zionist activist in Belarus, a member of Bilu, a physician, who immigrated to Eretz Yisroel for a second time in 1905 and worked as the chairman of the executive committee of Jaffa on behalf of Chovevei Zion. Was one of the founders of Tel Aviv, the chairman of the committee of Achuzas Bayis and one of the founders of the Hebrew Medical Association of Jaffa, Eretz Yisroel (which eventually became the Israel Medical Association).
