Special letter of request sent by the holy Gaon of Norbator Rabbi Naftali Teitelbaum to the leaders of Agudas Yisroel in the Holy Land, with a request to save a yeshiva student from being recruited into the army, by presenting an immigration certificate. 1935.
Postcard letter handwritten entirely by the Tazddik Rav the Gaon of Nirbator and with his signature, concerning a yeshiva student who was required to enlist in the army. Therefore, he is appealing to Rabbi Yonosson Horowitz, the Rosh Yeshiva of Meah She’arim, we a request to obtain an immigration certificate for him, thus saving him from being recruited into the army.
The yeshiva student is the Tzaddik Rav Rabbi Moshe Rokach, one of the grandsons of the holy Rav of Belz and Ropshitz. His name does not appear in the letter yet the receiver of the letter in Eretz Yisroel wrote on it ‘Moshe Rokach yeshiva student’. We do not know to which of the grandsons of the holy Rav of Belz bearing this name this letter refers to.
[Another item included in this auction is a calling card of Moshe Rokach, the son of the Tzaddik Shalita and grandson of the holy Tzaddik of Belz and Ropshitz living in London, and he might be the same Moshe Rokach about whom this letter was written].
The Holy Gaon Rabbi Naftali Teitelbaum Gaon Av Beis Din of Nirbator [1867-1938] one of the greatest rabbis of Hungary in his generation. One of the leaders of the fighters against the Zionist Movement. The son of the Holy Gaon Rabbi Yisroel Yokel Teitelbaum Av Beis Din of Volova, the son of Rabbi Shmuel Av Beis Din of Gorlitz the son of Rabbi Eliezer Nissan of Drohovitz the son of the Holy Rav the Yismach Mohse of Ohel. His mother was the daughter of the Holy Gaon Rabbeinu the Yitav Lev. He served as the Rav of Nirbator for forty years. Was admired by the greatest rabbis of the generation. Was renowned for his Rabbanus, pure prayers and the yeshiva he had established in his town, where Gedolei and Chachmei Torah grew.
