Poetic and rhymed letter by Rabbi Yisroel Asher Grayevsky to the Gabaim and managers of Beis Va’ad HaKellali. Handwritten and signed by him. Jerusalem, [1942]. 

"My weakness has increased in my old age, therefore I am asking for an attentive ear. And put my name for a monthly budget"; a request by Rabbi Yisroel Asher Grayevsky to be included in the list of rabbis who receive a monthly stipend, in the midst of World War II. Jerusalem, [1942].

Rabbi Yisroel Asher ben Meshulam Feivel Halevi Grayevsky (1866-1946) was born in Belarus, immigrated to Eretz Yisroel in 1882 and studied at the Toras Chaim yeshiva of Jerusalem. Authored the Seforim Bris Halevi (1903) – the first composition on the Torah of Eretz Yisroel that was written in the first days of the Ashkenazic community of Jerusalem, Gey Chazon (1938) – a Sefer of innovations on the Mishnah and a poetic Sefer Mussar, Sheves halevi (1938). His Seforim received enthusiastic approbations by leading rabbis of his generation. Passed away in Sivan 1946 and was laid to rest on the Mount of Olives.
