Letter by Rabbi Yosef Zvi Geiger of Safed, the scribe of Kollel Atinya, to the heads of Kollel Vizhnitz of Jerusalem, about the controversy in the Kollel. Safed, 1933.
The letter was sent from Safed to the Chassidic rabbis Rabbi Zundel hager, Rabbi Yechezkel Greenberg and Rabbi Menachem Mendel Gafner of Jerusalem, all of them famed Vizhnitz Chassidim. The letter deals with the dispute over the distribution of funds of Kollel Atinya between the cities of Tiberius and Safed and Jerusalem.
In the letter, he mentions that ‘the controversy has caused the Admor Shalita grief and causes neglection of the Avodah’. He suggests appointing Rabbi Meir David as the treasurer and include him as a board member. He asks them to put their differences aside and start working for the members of the Kollel. Between the lines, there is reference to the starvation, deprivation and poverty that those supported by the Kollelim suffered from.
Rabbi Yosef Zvi Geiger, the scribe and supervisor of the Kollel was an enthusiastic Atinya and Vizhnitz Chassid. Was the son of the Chassid rabbi Tudros Geiger.
