Letter on matters of Shiduchim by Rabbi Nachum Treibitch Av Beis Din of Prostějov to Rabbi Shmuel Landau of Prague, the son of the Nodah BiYehuda. Prostějov, [1828].
"And now my friend who is wise and should do as his wisdom since except for this, nothing is holding you back – request for advice regarding a Shiduch, when the bride’s family fear that the bridegroom, the son of "the Naggid Rabbi Yonoson Porit" will not be to its liking. Rabbi Nachum ben Rabbi Zelig Treibitch (1779-1842) was born in Prague and studied at the local Beis Midrash, becoming a leading disciple of the Rav of Prague, Rabbi Yaakov Ginzburg, who gave him his writings and appointed him to be his successor as Rosh Yeshiva of the town. After his Rav’s passing, Rabbi Nachum edited his writings, publishing them in Sefer Zerah Yaakov. Since 1826 served as the Rav of Prostějov. Since 1831 succeeded Rabbi Mordechai Benet as the Chief Rabbi of Moravia and moved to Nickelsburg. Authored responsa and the Shlom Yerushalayim commentary of the Talmud Yerushalmi.
Rabbi Shmuel Segal Landau (1750-1834) the son of the Nodah BiYehuda and his successor as Rosh Yeshiva and Rosh Beis Din of Prague. Author of Shut Shivas Zion. Some of his responsa was published with his father’s Sefer, Nodah BiYehuda, Mahadura Tanina, to which he added references and glosses. His eulogy for the Naggid Rabbi Kalman Porit, an important figure of the Prague community, was also printed.
