Torah innovations by the great Gaon Rabbi Smuel Ehrenfeld, the Chasan Sofer, handwritten by the rabbinic Rabbi Ze’ev Yuda Weiss of Shamloi. 1921.
Two pages of a wonderful innovation elucidating Aggadic words on the praise of G-d ‘האל הגדול הגבור והנורא’ and the difference between them being said by Daniel and by Yirmiyahu the prophet.
The manuscript was signed by its writer ‘Ze’ev Yuda Weiss’ of Shamloi who was a close disciple of the holy Gaon of Shamloi, receiving his Semicha by his rabbis. Eventually, he moved to Groiwarden and after the war, moved to Paris and from there, immigrated to Jerusalem.
The manuscript was copied from a manuscript by another disciple, since the Chasan Sofer had passed away already in 1883 and this manuscript was written approx. forty years later.
The Holy Gaon Rabbi Shmuel Ehrenfeld (1835-1883), the son of the great Gaon Rabbi David Zvi Ehrenfeld and the son-in-law of the Chasam Sofer. Rabbi Shmuel authored the Sefer Chasan Sofer. Was one of the greatest rabbis of Hungary and a leading disciple of his uncle the Kesav Sofer.
[2] handwritten folded pages. At there end, a colophon describing their writer. Minor ink stains. Fold marks. Very good condition.
