Original Shecitah certificate that was given to Leib Rosenzweig of Galicia, signed by the important Shochatim of Pressburg, with their original signatures. 1874.
The Shochatim note that they had decided not to give any more approbations and Shechita documents, yet they praise Rabbi Leib Rosenzweig of Galicia and his practical and theoretical knowledge.
The Shochatim who signed the document are Rabbi Michael Kunstadt [1841-1916] a disciple of the Kesav Sofer. His father, Rabbi Eliezer Lipman Kunstadt was a disciple of Rabbeinu the Chasam Sofer. He was a Talmid Chacham who served as a prayer leader at the great synagogue of Pressburg for almost fifty years.
Rabbi Amram Kurzweil gave in 1892 a Hora’ah Semicha to the Da’as Sofer by his the order of his father the Sheves Sofer. He too was a disciple of the Kesav Sofer and Sheves Sofer and was an important member of the Pressburg community.
[1] original Shechita certificate, hand-signed by the rabbis and with an original very well preserved wax seal. Fold marks. Tears, wear and stains. Good-very good condition.
