Six leaves with lengthy typewritten lines of an article on Hilchos Shevi’is and Gidulei Shevi’is, by the Gaon Rabbi Zvi Pesach Frank the Rav of Jerusalem, hand-signed by him. Jerusalem, 1945.
The typewritten article was sent by the Gaon Rabbi Zvi Pesach Frank to the Union of Rabbis of the USA and Canada in NIssan 1945, the final days of World War II, to praise the Sefer Hayovel which was edited for Rabbi Dov Aryeh Hacohen Lowenthal who was a member of the presidency of the Union of Rabbis.
The article was eventually printed in Kerem Zion, tenth section. This article contains glosses in another script, varied markings and some erasures.
The entire article was written on the official stationery of Maran the Gaon Rabbi Zvi Pesach Frank and at its end, his blessings and the handwritten signature.
Maran the Gaon Rabbi Zvi Pesach Frank [1873-1960] the Rav of Jerusalem and its Av Beis Din. A revered Posek and great Gaon. One of the founders of the Chief Rabbinate, a close disciple of Maran Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak Hacohen Kook. Was not identified with any party or movement. In his old age, headed the battle against the recruitment of girls into the army and the greatest rabbis and Poskim supported his Psak of ‘יהרג ואל יעבור’. His clear and important halachic Seforim Har Zvi and Mikra’ei Kodesh are cornerstones of Hora’ah and Halacha.
