Rare and special! manuscript on Halacha Lema’asseh of Hilchos Treifos, by Maran the Chazon Ish in response to a question by the great Gaon Rabbi Yaakov Landau, the Rav of Bnei Berak. Tishrei 1944.
Non-lined leaf with the question of Rabbi Yaakov Landau handwritten by him about the Kashrus of a cooked lung.
The Gaon Rabbi Yaakov Landau asks Maran the Chazon Ish whether the butchers already visited him with the cooked lung.
Thus, we are unwittingly exposed to his activity pertaining to the kashrus of food in Bnei Berak.
The Gaon Rabbi Yaakov Landau notes on the sides of the leaf the essence of the question, a lung which was cooked to see whether it is kosher or not.
In a rare manner: Maran the Chazon Ish answers the question practically, stating that he examined the lung in varied ways and specifying how he had done so and the results. ‘אמנם הביאו, בדקתי אחת ומצאתי כי המכה לא עברה פנימה והייתי שבע רצון‘ and added three lengthy lines.
Actually he rules: ‘בהיות שהדבר היה קשה השבתים כי אין מזור’.
There are not many practical responsa and regarding the Kashrus of chicken and the Shechita of animals they are even rarer.
[1] leaf. The lines of question by the Gaon Rabbi Yaakov Landau and the three lines of the Chazon Ish’ response. Very good condition.
