Holy letter with lofty Chassidic guidance and blessings for offspring handwritten by the famed holy Rav the author of Yessod haAvodah of Slonim and with his double signatures. Slonim, 1871.
The letter was only partly printed; important lines from it, including blessings and words of friendship to the relatives of the family of Yessod HaAvodah, were omitted in the printing. In addition, some parts are missing from this letter; however, there is much considerable blessing in what remained, including corrections which can be discerned only by careful examination, things that even the printers of Yessod HaAvodah wrestled with.
The letters begins with personal words to some of the leading Chassidim of Tiberius as well as the family members of the Rav, the Rzaddik Rav Rabbi Mordi of Vilyeka, the Tzaddik Rav Rabbi Menachem Mendel Epstein of Minsk, the Tzaddik Rav Rabbi Shmuel Shmaya Hacohen.
The Rabbi refers in detail to his siter the pious Rebbetzin Mrs. Ester Shprintza and her husband Rabbi Elchonon Isser and blesses that may G-d remember them and give them children.
Indeed, his blessing was heard and they merited bearing children.
The Rabbi signed his full name ‘Their friend … Avraham ben HaRav Yitzchak Matisyahu‘. After his signature, he added a blessing and guidance to his beloved grandson the Tzaddik Rav Rabbi Noah Weinberg: ‘May Hashem bless and protect you… fear G-d my son and crown the Yetzer Hara … and be careful with the purity of your thoughts and Midos and remember the saying of the Sages that he who comes to purify himself is assisted and he who sanctifies from below is sanctified from above …‘ Yessod HaAvodah then signed a second time: His loving grandfather Avraham.
If this wonderful letter, which contains principles of Avodah and blessings by the Yessod HaAvodah, is not enough, the back of the letter includes part of a lengthy essay, on Chassidus and Kabbalah and Avodas Hashem.
The Rabbi elucidates at length on the depth of Te’amim, Tagim and Otiyos.
The essay was printed in his holy Sefer Yessod HaAvodah, in Michtavei Koddesh, letter 68; however, there was printed only the known part on Avodah, which, as said, appears on the back of the leaf.
A careful examination indicates that there are some textual variations compared to the printed one, including a new understanding of a word about which the printed of Sefer Yessod HaAvodah had doubts; apparently, this manuscript was note before him but rather its copy.
The Holy Rav Rabbi Avraham Weinberg author of ‘Yessod HaAvodah’ and the founder of the Slonim Chassidus [1803-1883], the greatest disciple of the Holy Rav Rabbi Noah Melechevitch and the Holy Rav Rabbi Moshe of Kobrin. Immediately after the passing of his Rav of Kobrin [the 29th of Nissan 1858], his disciples chose him as his successor and made him their Rav and leader. He supported and encouraged the settlement of the Holy Land and was the president of Kollel Reisin. Encouraged many of his Chassidim to immigrate to the Holy Land and sent there his three great grandsons. His most important Sefer is "Yessod HaAvodah". This Sefer is one of the few Chassidus Seforim that were not written according to the Parashiyos of the Torah but as a well-organized doctrine explaining the principles of Chassidus.
