Letter by Rabbi Elyokim Shlomo Shapiro Av Beis Din of Hrodna (Grodno) to the managers of Moshav Zekenim of Jerusalem. Hrodna, [1896]. 

Letter handwritten and signed by Rabbi Elyokim Shlomo Shapiro, to the managers of Moshav Zekenim of Jeruslem, Rabbi Avraham Elkana Sachs, Eliyahu Honig and Yisroel Dov Frumkin. The seventh of Adar [1896]. 

[2] pp. handwritten and signed by Rabbi Elyokim Shlomo Shapiro. The letter contains blessings and regards alongside familial and financial updates and a request to stop sending the HaChavatzelet newspaper. 

Rabbi Elyokim Shlomo ben Rabbi Chaim Shapiro,  Rav of Eishishok and since 1885, a famed Moreh Hora’ah in Hrodna. The son-in-law of Rabbi Yehuda Leib Rabinowitz, who was a Moreh Tzeddek in Hrodno. Immigrated to Jerusalem, where he passed away in 1908. His innovations were published in varied Seforim and Shut. 

Rabbi Avraham Elkana ben Rabbi Moshe Sachs (1846-1903) the head of Kollel Holland and Deutschland which was founded by his father. Rabbi Sachs was the founder and first manager of Mosha Zekenim HaKelali and one of the managers of the Ashkenazic Chevra Kaddisha, a member of the city committee of the Jews of Jerusalem, one of the managers of HaVa’ad Hakelali Knesses Yisroel and one of the trustees of the Mazkeres Hasar Moshe Montefiore Fund which built the Mazkeres Moshe neighborhood. Was an in-law of Rabbi Yosef Chaim Sonnenfeld and the great-grandfather of the Rosh Yeshiva of Merkaz HaRav and Chief Rabbi, Rabbi Avraham Elkana Kahana Shapiro.
