Basic Sefer! Sefer HaRoke’ach by Rabbi Elazar of Worms, the revised Cremona edition, 1557.
Complete, elegant copy of one of the most important books authored by the Chassidim of Ashkenaz in Germany of the 13th century.
This early edition of Sefer HaRoke’ach was printed as a revised and proofread edition of the first edition, the Fano 1505 edition, which was an edition of the first Hebrew book that was published with a title page. This is the Cremona edition, which is a third, revised edition of the book. The printers of Cremona claimed that possibly, the gentile printers that printed the first edition were responsible, by mistake or intentionally, for the many mistakes that characterized the first edition. See more: Meir Bnayahu, Hadfus HaIvri BeCremona.
At the end of the Sefer, a colophon ofthe printer Vincenzo Conti in Cremona, 1557.
Early, fine edition of Sefer HaRoke’ach. In the foreword by the printers, they attack the proofreader of the Fano [1505] edition, who left many mistakes, claiming that maybe the fault lies with the foreign printers.
