Letter by the great Gaon Rabbi Zvi Hirsch of Zamość, when he came to serve as Rav in the joint comminutes of Altona, Hamburg and Wandsbeck, to its Parnasim and leaders. Berlin 1803.

The letter was written on his way to the joint comminutes of Altona, Hamburg and Wandsbeck. He apologizes for not writing to each and every community and then writes about his plans and expected arrival. The letter indicates that although he was appointed as Rav of the joint comminutes of Altona, Hamburg and Wandsbeck in 1802, in practice he began his work in the winter of 1803. 

The great Gaon Rabbi Zvi Hirsch of Zamość, also known as ‘Rabbi Hirscheli Zamośćer’ [1740-1807] the last Rav of the joint comminutes of Altona, Hamburg and Wandsbeck. Previously the Rav of Tishvitz, Greiditz, Brod and Gluga. Since 1802 served as the rav of the joint comminutes of Altona, Hamburg and Wandsbeck after the passing of the author of Atzei Almogim. Corresponded on Torah and Hora;ah with all the leading rabbis of his generation including the Nodah BiYehuda who called him ‘First among Firsts’. His Sefer Shut Tiferes Zvi was published with an enthusiastic approbation by Maran the Divrei Chaim of Sanz.
