Sefer Pri Shmuel handwritten by Rabbi Shmuel Shmelkeh ben Rabbi Dov Weintraub of Josefow. [1868]. Autograph that has not been printed.
A deep and wide elucidation on Tur and Shulchan Aruch Orach Chaim until Siman 48. The composition begins with the poem "אליך ה’ נפשי אשא". After it, a long introduction in which he writes "… I began writing this composition on the first day of Hanukkah 1868 here in Josefow".
Rabbi Shmuel Shmelkeh reached Jerusalem at the end of his days and became one of its sages. Authored several books including Bikurei Shmuel on Sefer Mishlei, Jerusalem 1882; Invei Shmuel on Tractate Avos, Jerusalem 1883; Milchemes Shmuel Neged Das HaNotzrim, Jerusalem 1900 was published after his passing. [In all these books, he signed his name as Baharad and the National Library and the Bibliography of the Hebrew Book listed his father’s name as David. However, in this composition he signed his full name, writing "ben Rabbi Dov"]. His Pri Shmuel commentary on the Torah was lost.
