Letter by the Clerks and Administrators of Kollel Amsterdam to the leaders of the Kollel of the Chassidim [Kollel Polin] in Jerusalem headed by the holy Rav Rabbi David Zvi Shlomo of Lelov. 1899.

The letter is addressed to ‘our friends, the rabbis who are great in Torah and Yirah … Rabbi Shmuel, Rabbi David Zvi Shlomo Biderman and Rabbi Yosef Hacohen’, the managers of the Kollel of the Chassidim in Jerusalem.

They recall they had sent money for charity by means of the famed merchants of the Valero family in Jerusalem, noting that the money should be distributed at the addressees’ discretion.

They ask in exchange for the donation, that the rabbis study for the ascent of the soul of the philanthropist and her family, conduct a Yizkor prayer, study Mishnayos in her memory and more.

The letter is signed by the renowned philanthropists: Rabbi Meir Rubens and Rabbi Yaakov Naftali Halevi, who was a scribe and who wrote this letter. Appearing on verso of the leaf are the addressees’ names headed by the holy Rav Rabbi David Zvi Shlomo of Lelov.
