The first book by Maran the Gaon Rabbi Yaakov Yehoshua Folk Av Beis Din of Metz and Lvov which was printed in his lifetime. 

Varied ownership notations: Yechiel Michl Kahana and more. The title page is blemished and non-professionally restored. On its verso, completion of the foreword in a most impressive rabbinic script. 

The holy Rav the Mareh Yechezkel of Deyzh wrote in the name of his Rav the Chasam Sofer: "I heard from the holy mouth of the Admor the Chasam Sofer that since the composition by the Rashba nothing can compare to the Pnei Yehoshua". The Rav the Chida, in his book Shem Hegedolim, wrote of the author: "He became famed in the entire world due to his composition the Pnei Yehoshua … and I the young merited welcoming the face of the Shekhina and its sight was like that of a Divine angel and it gave me the Sefer Pnei Yehoshua". 

4, 115, 106, 81, 20 leaves. 30 cm. The title page is blemished and restored. The text of the first leaves is incomplete and restored with several missing words. Wear to many leaves. The rest of the leaves are of good quality. Some tears. Varied stains throughout the book. Non-original binding. Good condition.
