Lengthy and special letter of blessings by the great Gaon Rabbi Eliezer Yehuda Finkel, the Rosh Yeshiva of Mir, for the marriage of the Gaon Rabbi Ephraim Borodiansky, the future Rosh Yeshiva of Be’er Yaakov and one of the editors of the Talmudic Encyclopedia. Mir, 1939.
Letter of blessings for the marriage ‘of my friend the Gaon Rav Rabbi Ephraim Borodiansky Petach Tikvah’.
The letter bears the date Sivan 1939, one of the last letters before the destruction of the yeshiva world of Europe in general and Lithuania in particular.
The Gaon Rabbi Eliezer Yehuda Finkel warmly blesses that ‘ Divine abundance be showered upon him and he build a tall and stable house’ and guides him to continue his study of the Torah so that his light will grow and shine in his lifetime.
Indeed, his blessings were fulfilled and the Gaon Rabbi Ephraim Borodiansky became one of the editors of the Talmudic encyclopedia and served as Rosh Yeshiva of several yeshivas including the Be’er Yaakov Yeshiva.
The great Gaon Rabbi Eliezer Yehuda Finkel [1877-1965] Rosh Yeshiva of the Mir Yeshiva and founder of the New Yeshiva after the Holocaust, was one of the great scholars of the generation and member of Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah of Agudas Yisroel. Son of the the Saba of Slabodka and a disciple of the Gaon Rabbi Eliezer Gordon of Telz, the Ridbaz, the Great Gaon Rabbi Chaim of Brisk, rabbi Baruch Ber and the Chofetz Chaim.
