Letter of arbitration settling disputes between the holy institutions of Safed, Beis Chasam Sofer and Yeshivas Toras Eretz Yisroel, hand-signed by the Tzaddik Rav Rabbi Naftali Chanalis the grandson of Maran the holy Ba’al Shem Tov. Safed, 1919.

Written on the official stationery of the Beis Chasam Sofer institution is an arbitration agreement between the institutions, following World War I, whose reverberations had not yet subsided, and therefore ‘news cannot be received from the president of the Beis Chasam Sofer Yeshiva, the Gaon Rav Avraham Chaim David Sofer’.

The agreement refers, among others, to the Tzaddik Rav Rabbi Naftali Chanalis, the grandson of the holy Rav of Mezhibuzh, a Shadar and dignitary of Safed in the early 20th century. Was named after his mother, the important philanthropist Mrs. Chana, and served as the manager of public institutions of Safed, especially the Toras Eretz Yisroel Yeshiva.

The handwritten signature of the Tzaddik rav Rabbi Naftali Chanalis.
