The content of the letter: Rabbi Sholom Kasar informs Rabbi Sholom Halevi about the health of his daughter, Rachel Halevi, who lives in his house and is feeling better. He apologizes for the delay in sending his letter and explains why he does not continue with his fundraising for the yeshiva: "I am tired of speaking with them [the public] and failing". Nevertheless, he encourages Rabbi Sholom Halevi to keep on studying and advises him to constantly try and influence the public. He ends the letter he takes interest in the addressee and sends his regards.
Rabbi Sholom ben Rabbi Yichyeh [Chaim] Kasar (1876-1964) one of the eldest Yemenite sages of jerusalem. Was born in Sana and immigrated to Eretz Yisroel as a child. Was a leading disciple of Rabbi Yichyeh Tzarom and was known as an Iluy. Grew up in the Sha’arei Chessed neighborhood and used to deliver a Daf Yomi lesson in Yiddish at the HaGra synagogue. Headed the Sukkas Sholom Yeshiva and earned his living as a scribe.
