Handwritten letter by Rabbi Mendel Friedman on the stationery of his store to Rabbi Yitzchak Michael Dushinsky Av Beis Din of Poloto. Jerusalem, (1935).
"I was most astonished at this sight and it is truly … a wonder and nothing but Divine Providence how this came about with the holy Sefer Torah so much so that Divine Providence brought it to his house and he wanted it for himself …"; letter on the completion of a sale of a Sefer Torah and a discussion on who is not entitled to a retainer for its sale. [1] leaf, official stationery of the store of Mendel Friedmann & Co. Letter in a foreign language to Mrs. Folk of Haifa. On verso of this letter and beneath it, the letter to Rabbi Dushinsky was written – [42] lines with erasures and additions between the lines. The letter to Mrs. Folk is signed "Mendel (Emanuel) Friedman and the additional letter "Mordechai".
The Rabbinic Chassid Mendel Friedmann of Jerusalem was the owner of the famed bookshop and the shop that sold Etrogim of Eretz Yisroel in the Meah She’arim neighborhood.
Rabbi [Yitzchak] Michael Dushinsky (1871-1939) served as the Rav of several communities in Hungary and since 1898 as the first Rav of the Rákospalota community, which today is part of Pest, Hungary. His sermons were published in 2005 in Sefer Movchar Derashos alongside the history of his family and community.
