Picture of "the Tzaddik Rav Rabbi Shneur Zalman of Liadi Ba’al Hatanya". With confirmation by the censor of Odessa, 1904.
The first printing of the Admor Hazaken’s portrait was done by Rabbi Shemarya Schneersohn in 1888, dozens of years after the Admor’s passing. Thus, a question arose as to whether this famed portrait was indeed that of the Admor Hazaken. According to the tradition of Chabad, the source of the portrait is a painting that was drawn when the Admor Hazaken was imprisoned in Petersburg in 1799.
Folds, a tear and blemishes to the edges of the picture, stains, fair-good condition.
