In [1522], the printer Daniel Bomberg printed the Hilchot Rav Alfas on tractate Shvu’ot, adding the composition "Twenty Sha’arei Shvu’ot … by the Gaon Rabbi Yitzchak ben Rabbi Reuven, known as Rav Alfas[!]", which deals with Dinim of Shvu’ot Beis Din and begins with the rhymes "עורה בן אדם ולא תהיה נרדם". There are later editions that noted that there are disagreements between the Rif’s method and the method of this composition, suggesting that this composition was written by the Rif’s grandson or by the Rif in his youth, the Rif having recanted the Halachos in his old age.
Some scholars believe the author to be Rabbi Yitzchak ben Rabbi Reuven of Barcelona, who translated the book Sefer Hamekach Vehamimkar by Rav Hai Gaon while others believe that the composition was originally written in Arabic by Rabbi David ben Rabbi Sa’adya and was then translated into Hebrew by Rabbi Yitzchak ben Rabbi Reuven.
