Sefer Yeshu’ot Meshicho, response to Christians who had a bitter argument with Judaism, by Rabbi Don Yitzchak Abravanel. Karlsruhe [?], [1828]. First edition. Rare.
[7], 50 leaves. On the title page, "printed in Karlsruhe"; however, scholars believe that it was printed in Sudilkov, Lvov, Zholkva, Ostrohe or Tarnopol. The covering up of the actual place of printing resulted from the publishers’ fear of the Russian authorities. That year, a similar edition was printed except for the title page, which was reprinted with variations and an omission of the publishers’ forewords that appear at the beginning of this copy.
Dismantled semi-leather binding. A tear and some taping to the edges of the first leaves. Stains. Fair-good condition.
