Sefer Meir Einei Chachamim (the Maharam of Lublin) – Vienna, 1796 – copy of the Gaon Rabbi Yisroel Salanter the founder of the Mussar movement – his handwritten signature – handwritten glosses.
On the title page, the handwritten signature of the Gaon Rabbi Yisroel Salanter: "Yisroel of Salant".
On the leaves of the book, several short handwritten glosses.
Please refer to Hebrew catalog text for a brief biography of the holy Gaon Rabbi Yisroel Salanter.
Apparently, (for several reasons) the signature on this book is from his early years in Vilna.
Manuscripts by the Gaon Rabbi Yisroel Salanter are extremely rare and especially his signatures on books, which are scarce.
Additional signatures and notations on the title page: זה הספר שייך להבחור אהרן לי[…]; "יוסף שטעקלר"; "יוסף אשער"; "נתנו לכבוד התורה ולכבוד המחבר ז"ל… תרמ"ו".
