Important letter handwritten and signed by Maran the Ksav Sofer to Maran the great Gaon the Yeri’ot Shomo – on Halacha and leadership. Pressburg, 1859.
In the letter, Maran the Ksav Sofer begins his letter to the Yeri’ot Shlomo: ‘… (five words are missing) הרב הגאון הקדוש מופת הדור והדרו כקש"ת מהר"ש זלמן אולמאן שליט"א אבד"ק מאקאווא יע"א נ"ו.
He then answers in detail the question he had received from him. Many words are missing, therefore the context is unclear; yet, it seems that Maran the Ksav Sofer writes how it can be prohibited in a manner that will be accepted by the members of the community.
Later, he asks him to send the protocol that was written.
Many words are missing from the letter due to its age; however, it was visually restored and the leaf was completed.
Maran the great Gaon Rabbi Avraham Shmuel Binyomin Sofer, the Ksav Sofer [1815-1872], the spiritual leader of Hungarian Jewry after the passing of his father Maran the Chasam Sofer, his successor and author of many Torah innovations, on Sugyos HaShas, Aggadic innovations, sermons, Shut and more. had thousands of disciples, great rabbis and Torah scholars.
