The personal copy of the holy Rav Rabbi Nachum Dov Ber Friedman of Sadigura, the owner of the famed large library.
His full handwritten signature as well as his personal stamp and the stamp of Minchat Shai with which he used to stamp the books he had received as a gift. In addition, a red note with gilt script of ‘אוצר הספרים של מו"ה נחום דוב פרידמאן בסאדאגורא’. Bound in a fine binding in the style of the bindings of the many books of his large and rich library.
The holy Rav Rabbi Nachum Dov Ber Friedman [1844-1883] the son of the holy Rav Rabbi Sholom Yosef of Ruzhin and the son-in-law of the holy Rav Rabbi Avraham Yaakov of Sadigura, a great Torah and Chassidus Gaon. Lived his entire life in the court of his father-in-law in Sadigura. His large library contained many rare books and manuscripts and was one of the most important and renowned libraries of his time. The Gaon author of ‘Yad Yehuda’ the Rav of Sadigura writes in his foreword to his Sefer ‘And when I came here to Sadigura I found what my soul loved in the house of my relative the Tzaddik Rav the son of the holy Nachum Dov who has a collection of rare books by ancient authors which is unparalleled. Used to stamp his books with three stamps – Minchas Shai (gift), Yerushas Avos (inheritance), Kinyan Kaspi (bought with my money).
[3] 136 leaves. Original, impressive binding like those of the other books of the library of holy Rav Rabbi Nachum Dov Ber Friedman, its front board detached and non-professionally restored with late tape. Minor moth touches. Very good condition.
