Halachic responsa by the Gaon Rabbi Yechezkel Bennett Av Beis Din of Worohl, author of the Meshiv Ta’am, the grandson of the Gaon Rabbi Shlomo ganzfried, author of the Kitzur Shulchan Aruch – responsa that was written by his grandfather’s request, in reply to people who asked questions on his words in the Kituzr Shulchan Aruch – Ungvar, 1877-1881 – have not been printed.
Responsa that was written in his youth.
These are five halachic responses by the Gaon Rabbi Yechezkel Bennett Av Beis Din of Worohl, author of the Meshiv Ta’am, the grandson of the Gaon Rabbi Shlomo Ganzfried, responses that were written by his grandfather’s request, in reply to people who asked questions on his words in the Kituzr Shulchan Aruch. He also notes the sources of his Psakim. He also notes and quotes his book Pnei Adam on Sefer Chayei Adam, which was never printed. The responses seem to have been taken from an entire composition with such responses. These are Simanim 42-46. They were copied from the original responses written by the writer (it is unclear whether this copying was done by Rabbi Yechezkel himself in his youth, in the 1880s, or by another copyist).
Background: The Gaon Rabbi Shlomo Ganzfried became sick and subsequently weak in 1878, as described by his grandson Rabbi Yechezkel in the introduction to his book Pnei Shlomo. All these responses are from the last years of the author of the Kitzur Shulchan Aruch. Since he was too weak to write them himself, they were written by his grandson.
Please refer to Hebrew catalog text for a brief description of the content of the responsa and for a brief biography of Rabbi Yechzkel Bennett.
