Rabbi Yaakov Av Beis Din of Karlin (1781-1844), the son of Rabbi Aharon Bruchin of Minsk, the son of Hagra’s disciple Rabbi Baruch of Shklov. Rabbi Yaakov authored the books Shur Mishkenot Yaakov and Chidushei Kohelet Yaakov and was one of the leading Poskim of his generation. Was known as a prodigy since childhood and was the student of Rabbi Chaim at the Volozhin Yeshiva. As Rav and Av Beis Din of Dvidorodok and later, for over twenty years as Av Beis Din of Karlin. Corresponded on halachic matters with rabbi Ephraim Zalman Margolis of Brod. One of his sons was the Rav Rabbi Moshe Aharon.
Renewed and blemished semi-leather binding. Stains. Moth holes. Folds to the corners. Fair-good condition.
