According to the title page, the book contains letters "that were found in an archive in Kyiv… by the Chassid philanthropist Rabbi Shmuel Gorari… with his hard-earned money … and he delivered them to the Admor of Lubavitch". The source of most of the letters that are attributed here to the Besht and his disciples is the Charson Genizah. The book was distributed by the office of the Union of the Chassidim Kollel Chabad in New York. The book also contains letters by the Admorim of Chabad and an appeal to philanthropists to support the Chabad yeshivas.
