The Chassid Rabbi Yosef Yaavetz (1440-1508) was one of the greatest rabbis of Spain in the generation of the Expulsion. Studied Torah with Don Yitzchak Abravanel and was the brother-in-law of the author of the Akeidas Yitzchak – Rabbi Yitzchak Arama. Rabbi Yosef was one of the pillars supporting the exiled Jews of Spain. After the expulsion, he traveled with his son to many cities (Napoli, Ferrara and more) to support the exiles – financially yet mostly mentally and spiritually.
Well-known is what he said about simple faith: during testing times, Jews who had simple faith were those who sacrificed themselves rather than those who based their faith on philosophy.
Simple binding, dismantled and partly detached. Detached title page, blemished in its edges. Stains and a blemish to the last leaf not affecting the text. Fair condition.
