Historical document on a rare official stationery of HaEidah HaChareidit led by the Geonim Rabbi Zelig Reuven Bengis and Rabbi Yitzchak Ze’ev Soloveitchik of Brisk.
The letter was sent by HaEidah HaChareidit Prushim VeChassidim of the Ashkenazic community of Jerusalem and deals with the kashruth for Passover of meat from Etheopia – Eritrea, warning against consuming it.
The letter is signed by Rabbi Chaim Shimon Schwartz, one of the leaders of the Kashruth committee, and is dated Adar 1953.
As stated, the letter is written on an interesting, rare stationery titling Maran the Rav of Brisk as ‘Chief Rabbi of Charedi Jewry of the Holy Land’ alongside Rabbi Zelig Reuven Bengis ‘Rav and Av Beis Din of all Ashkenazic communities of Jerusalem’.
