Red velvet Parochet that had belonged to the Beis Midrash of the Kloiz of the Kehal Yere’im Kloiz of Chortekov. 1906.

On the old reddish velvet Parochet, a beautiful and impressive Keter Torah is embroidered with gilt threads on blue velvet. The Keter is 5 cm. thick and therefore most prominent. 19 cm, in height and 21 cm. in width with bluish and greenish gemstones on it. Starts on the sides of the Parochet.

An inscription: ‘שייך לבית המדרש קלויז דקהל יראים טשארטקוב’ (belongs to the Beis Midrash of the Kloiz of the Kehal Yere’im Kloiz of Chortekov) – the large Beis Midrash of the holy rav Rabbi Yisrael of Chortekov.

The year (1906) is embroidered in the next line – תרס"ו לפ"ק with the letters of the word לפ"ק embroidered together.

This Parochet was approached by the holy Tzaddikim the holy Rav Rabbi Yisroel of Chortekov, his sons Rabbi Dov Bernyu, Rabbi Nachum Mordechai and rabbi Chaim Aharon as well as his holy disciples Rabbi Meir Shapiro, the Maharsham of Berzhan, Rabbi Meir Arik, the Rav of Tshebin, the Rav of Piotrkow and many more.

The Parochet was donated in 1906 and thus was not used by Rabbi David Moshe of Chortekov, the son of  Ateret Tiferet Yisroel of Ruzhin, who passed away in 1904.

During the High Holidays, a white Parochet replaces the regular one, a custom based on the verse ‘אם יהיו חטאיכם כשני, כשלג ילבינו’.

In the holy courts of Ruzhin, the Parochot that were not used during the month of Tishrei were hung on the walls of the Sukkah. In our generation, the Sukkah of the holy Rav of Bohush is famed for the Parochet of his grandfather the holy Rav of Ruzhin hanging on its wall.

Thus, this Parochet used to hang also in the Sukkah of the holy Rav Rabbi Yisroel of Chortekov.

The Chassidim who left Chortekov before World War I took this Parochet with them.

Description of the Parochet:

height: approx. 2 meters. Width: over 1 meter. With red fabric fringes. Complete. Traces of the metal hooks that were used for hanging. A small tear in one of the upper corners. A faded yellow stain along the Parochet. Minor aging stains. Stars from gilt thread on the lower part. Good condition.
