Shut Olat Shmuel by Rabbi Shmuel Leib Koider – Prague, 1823 – first edition – doznes of lengthy glosses handwritten by the Gaon Rabbi Yisroel Isserel Lisa Av Beis Din of Kledy and Hochenems containing many objections to the words of the author who was known for his "כחא דהיתרא"  – signatures

Signature on the title page: "שייך לי הק’ רפאל ש"ה [שולהוף]" (belongs to the young Raphael Schulhoff) whom Maran the Chatam Sofer called The great rabbinic Tzaddik.

The author of the book, the Gaon Rabbi Shmuel Leib Koider (1766-1838) one of the leading rabbis of Prague, a close friend and member of the Beis Din of Rabbi Bezalel Ranshburg, was known for his extreme כחא דהיתרא. His entire Shut book Olat Shmuel contains decisions of Kula and Heiter.

The sheets of this book are laden with glosses handwritten by the Gaon Rabbi Isserel of Lisa objecting to the author’s words. Some of these were written in sharp language, for example: "לו לא הסתיר המחבר את פניו מלהסתכל בפנים מסבירות של הגאון בעל פני יהושע אשר רבים וכן שלמים יאותו לאורו אור בוקר לא עבות ואור לו בשערי ציון המצויינים בהלכה לא הי’ צריך להכפיל הדברים… " (4b); "… והמחבר בדה מלבו לשנות בדברי הרמב"ם… והמחבר ברמות רוחא יצא לטעון בדבר חדש… ועיניו השע מלהביט בתחלת הסוגיא… " (5a). Despite the heated controversy between them, they respected each other. The author, Rabbi Shmuel Koider writes in one of his responses to Rabbi Isserel: "שניהם אהובינו ובתורתם נשמח כל הימים, וחלילה לדחות את דבריהם, אך אתם אשתעשע".
