Maggid Devarav LeYaakov, known as Likutei Amarim by the great Maggid of Mezeritch the holy Rav Rabbi Dov Ber. Koretz, 1784. Mahadura Tanyana with an addition of new Ma’amarim by the holy author.

Maggid Devarav LeYaakov, the Torah of the great Maggid of Mezeritch, edited and published by Rabbi Shlomo of Luck, the author’s disciple. The first edition was published in Koretz in 1781 and this second edition in 1784.

To this important edition more than twenty new Ma’amarim that were not printed in the first edition were added.

The holy Rav Rabbi Shlomo of Luck wrote two important forewords, which became well-known in the Chassidic world. In the first, he described in detail the virtue of the holy Tzaddikim the Besht and Maggid of Mezeritch. In his second foreword, he expanded on the importance of the Ma’amarim.

Due to what was written in this important book about the version of the prayer, Maran the Chasam Sofer wrote that he was unfamiliar with it, to which Maran the Divrei Chaim replied: ובחנם התרעם החתם סופר על ליקוטי אמרים… ובאמת הראת לדעת דליקוטי אמרים לאו מדעתיה דנפשיה אמרה, רק בגזירת עירין פתגמא הגדולים בנגלה ובנסתר קדמוני האחרונים.
