"מנחה היא שלוחה מהגאון המחבר מוהר"ר צבי אשכנזי להצעיר בעבדי ה’" – Sefer Shut, innovations and elucidations, I, by Rabbi Zvi Ashkenazi, Chacham Zvi. The press of Shlomo ben Rabbi Yosef Proops. Amsterdam, [1712]. First and rare edition.
The great Gaon Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Ashkenazi [1658-1718] one of the greatest Poskei Hora’ah. The father of the Gaon Rabbi Yaakov Emden. Known as Chachahm Zvi after his book on the Shas.
The receiver of the book, the Gaon Rabbi Chaviv Toleadno [the second] one of the Sages of Meknes, Morocco. His son, whose signature also appears in the book. was Rabbi Chaim Toledano. Rabbi Chaviv passed away in 1716, several years after receiving the book.
[1], 127 leaves. On the title page, owner’s notations and owner’s signatures including the signature of Rabbi Chaviv Toledano, who received the book from the author, and the signatures of Rabbi Chaim Toledano, Rabbi Avraham ben Chason and more.
New, elegant leather binding. Taping to the edges of the first leaves. Moth holes. Stains. fair condition.
