Machzor containing prayers for all year round with a commentary and Selichot accoding to the custom of Poland, Mehren, Pihem and Hungary – Ashkenaz version – Vienna, 1812 – large format for the prayer leader – dozens of important glosses on the leaves with the commentary on the Piyyutim by Rabbi Elazar Hoffman, including a commentary he had heard from HaGra.
This Machzor contains the prayers for the days of the week, Sabbath, Mo’adim and Yamim Nora’im, Selichot and Piyyutim, with a detailed commentary by Rabbi Moshe Schedil. The Machzor also contains Tehillim, Mishnayot tractate Yoma, the customs of Rabbi Isaac of Torno and a foreword at its beginning taken from the commentary by Rabbi Wolf Heidenheim.
Written on the leaves of the Machzor containing the Piyyutim for the Musaf prayer of Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur are dozens of important glosses, including an elucidation on the language of the Piyyutim. Some of them suggest a different commentary and others, grammarly comments,
On leaf 120b, the writer introduces a well-known commentary by HaGra, writing: "אפשר לפרש כוונת הפייטן עפ"י… [שש]מעתי מהגאון אלקי… ווילנא זצ"ל לפרש התפלה גלה כבוד [מלכו]תך…".
In some glosses, he introduces the commentary of Rabbi Wolf Heidenheim, see for example, leaves 105b, 217b.
In two places, on leaf 88a and 203a, the writer signed his name: Elazar Hoffman.
