Sefer Machaneh Ephraim – Lvov, 1860 – the personal copy of the Tzaddik Gaon Rabbi Sheul Halevi Katznelboigen Av Beis Din of Kosovo and Kobryn, the father of the mother of the Chazon Ish
Ownership notation on the front gaurd leaf: "זה הספר שייך לה"ה הרב הגאון הגדול מעוז ומגדול סוע"ה [=סיני ועוקר הרים] חו"ב [=חריף ובקי] המפורסם לתפארת החכם הכולל פ"ה ע"ה מ’ שאול נ"י הלוי שיחי’ אב"ד בק’ קאסעווע".
Beneath it, a stamp: "מרדכי יונתן קאצינעלינבויגען בהגאון הגדול מו"ה שאול הלוי זצלה"ה שהי’ הגאב"ד בקאברין ומלפנים בקאססאווא".
Stamps on the title page: "בנימין בנציון ב"ר משה ליב זצ"ל זשוק קאסאווע".
The Tzaddik Gaon Rabbi Shaul Katzneboigen (1828-1892) the great-grandson of the Gaon Kabbalist Rabbi Aryeh Leib Epstein author of the Pardes. After his marriage, he changed his family name from Epstein to Katznelboigen. In 1858 was appointed the Rav of Kosovo by the recommendation of Rabbi Yitzchak Elchonon Spektor Av Beis Din of Kovno. He held the position for 24 years. In 1882, he was appointed the Rav of Kobryn, a position he held until his passing. His daughter, the pious Rebbetzin Rasha Leah was the Chazon Ish’s mother.
