In the letter that was written by a scribe, the Poskim describe at length the importance of Pidyon Shvuyim of the Jews of Iran, 13 of whom were falsely accused and arrested. After the rise of the Shi’ite fundamentalists in 1979, the Jews of the world feared the Jews of Iran will be persecuted. However, actually, there were only occasional institutionalized persecutions. One of those times was the arrest of 13 Jews, who were falsely accused of treason. Subsequently, Gedolei Hador called to pray and do good deeds for their sake.
