Rabbeinu the holy Gaon Rabbi Pinchas Halevi Ish Horowitz (1731-1805), known as Ba’al Hafla’ah, Av Beis Din and Rosh Yeshiva in Frankfurt am Main, which was then the largest Torah center in Germany and where he served as Rav for more than thirty three years, until his passing. A disciple of the Maggid of Mezeritch, the brother of Rabbi Shmuel Shmelkeh Horowitz of Nikolsburg and the Rav of the Chasam Sofer. Author of Sefer Hafla’ah (which includes the Sefer Ketubah on Tractate Ketubos and Sefer Hamikneh on Tractate Kiddushin), Sefer Panim Yafot on the Torah and Shut Givat Pinchas.
