Lengthy letter handwritten entirely by the great Gaon Rabbi Moshe Sokolovsky of Brisk to Maran the great Gaon Rabbi Chaim Ozer Grodzinsky of Vilna, for supporting the Toras Chessed Yeshiva of Brisk. 1928.
The great Gaon author of Imrei Moshe figuratively and painfully depicts the situation of the yeshiva stating that it has reached the end of its tether, and he particularly needs the firm support of Va’ad HaYeshivos of Vilna: ‘The heart grieves for these dear and excellent Bnei Zion, She’eris Pleitas Yisroel, Gedolei Torah who can barely support themselves…’
Rabbi Moshe Sokolovsky notes that the Gri Lubavitch wrote to him that he has spoken with Maran the Gaon Rabbi Chaim Ozer at the beginning of the summer and he had said that in the future he will give more on behalf of Va’ad HaYeshivos.
He ends with a blessing ‘May Hashem Yisborach give him courage and strength to do good and improve the situation of the yeshivas and may he merit seeing the raising up of the horn of Torah and the salvation of Yisroel’.
The Imrei Moshe, the renowned Gaon Rabbi Moshe Sokolovsky [1861-1931] one of the Geonim of Lithuania, author of the Imrei Moshe, a disciple of the Gaon Rabbi Chaim of Brisk. Headed the Toras Chessed Yeshiva of Brisk alongside the Gaon Dayan Rabbi Simcha Zelig Riger. His Sefer Imrei Moshe is most common in yeshivas.
