This pedigreed copy is stamped by the holy Tzadik Rabbi Mordechai David Teitelbaum of Drohobytch-Stotshin, who immigrated to Safed in his old age. Additional ownership notation: זה הספר שייך לה’ הארץ ומלואה יהודא ליביש חתן… אב"ד דק’ ראפטשיץ" [incomplete and erased].
Inside the book, varied late notations, handwritten glosses and Kvitlach – notes of Segulah and prayer that were inserted into the book and left there for salvation and success. Ownership notation from the period: ‘[לד’ הארץ] ומלואה יהודא ליביש חתן [ראה"ק? (=erased, possibly what was written was ראש הקהל)] דק’ ראפטשיץ.
In the lifetime of Rabbi Levi Yitzchak of Berditchev, only the Mamarim on the Kedushot for Hanukkah and Kedushot for Purim were published. After his passing, the Mamarim on the Torah were published by his descendants.
This is the first edition that was published by his grandson Rabbi Yosef ben Rabbi Meir containing both sections.
Moreover, this edition contains many additions based on a manuscript by the author, which were marked with a palm.
On the first leaf, an enthusiastic approbation by the holy Rav the Ohev Yisroel of Apta, praising the writings, the virtue of Rabbeinu and the Segulah of this edition (protection and shield anywhere he is) and encouraging people to buy it: "ובוודאי זכות הגאון בעל המחבר זלה"ה וקדושת ספרים הנ"ל יהיו למגן ומחסה בכל מקום אשר ימצאו להטות עליהם כנהר שלום...וראוי לכל ישראל לסייע לדבר מצוה וימהרו ויחושו לקנות ספרי קודש הנ"ל בכסף מלא".
