Letter handwritten and signed by Rabbi Meir Av Beis Din of Ravitch, a disciple of Rabbi Akiva Eiger.
The letter was written on the days of Bein Hametzarimm [appraently in late 18th or early 19th century]. Th eletter was written to "הרב הגאון הגדול המפורסם חריף ובקי נ"י ע"ה [=נר ישראל עמוד הימני] כ"ה מו"ה אלי’" and signed: "הק’ מאיר במו"ה יידל ז"ל".
Apparently, the writer is Rabbi Meir ben Rabbi Yidel Bergel Av Beis Din of Ravitsh (see enclosed material).
Most of the letter deals with health matters. Rabbi Meir asks Rabbi Eliyahu to pray for him. He writes that due to his illness, his physicians ordered him to travel to a spa town to breathe fresh air; however, he could not do so: "לא הי’ דעתי לזה מטעמים הכמוסים שנוגעים לעניני יראה". He ends the letter with a scholarly comment.
