‘תזכו בקרוב להיות בין מקבלי פני משיח צדקנו’ (May you merit soon being among those welcoming the Messiah) Special letter of blessings signed by the Gaon Rabbi Eliezer Yehuda Finkel the Rosh Yeshiva of Mir and its founder in Eretz Yisroel. The letter is the first one from Eretz Yisroel, Shevat 1941.
The great Gaon Rabbi Eliezer Yehuda Finkel came to the Holy Land in Tevet 1941 and this letter is from Shevat, on a letterhead that was already made for him by his students ‘אליעזר יהודא פינקל ראש ישיבה דישיבת מיר’.
Rabbi Eliezer Yehuda settled in Tel Aviv, at the the Heichal Hatalmud Yeshiva founded by his son, Rabbi Chaim Zeev Finkel. When he was there, he came to know the activity of the Women’s Committee for the yeshiva and wrote an enthusiastic letter of blessings to those supporting them and their activity.
The letter is typewritten with his handwritten signature and corrections.
The great Gaon Rabbi Eliezer Yehuda Finkel [1877-1965] Rosh Yeshiva of the Mir Yeshiva and its refounder after the Holocaust, was one of the great scholars of the generation and member of Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah of Agudas Yisroel. Son of the Saba of Slabodka and a disciple of the Gaon Rabbi Eliezer Gordon of Telz, the Ridbaz, the Great Gaon Rabbi Chaim of Brisk, Rabbi Baruch Ber and the Chofetz Chaim. He managed to escape Europe during the Holocaust, immigrating to Jerusalem where he refounded the Mir Yeshiva.
