On the title page, ownership signatures and notations of the Gaon Rabbi Abba Merkel Shlomo Hacohen ben Rabbi Yitzchak Isaac, Av Beis Din of Sornok, author of Shut Yad Shlomo (Warsaw, 1903).
His book Yad Shlomo was approbated by leading rabbis who described him with these words: איש גדול בתורה ויראה כאחד מגאוני הזמן, עוסק בתורה ועבודה יום ולילה, שולח מעינים בכל חוצות בחריפות ובקיאות, מפלפל עם כל גאוני הזמן".
