Letter by Rabbi Zerach Horowitz, joining the protest of the Union of Rabbis of the USA and Canada against changing Sidrei Kiddushin. Worcester, Massachusetts, [1935].


"On the matter of the protest against those who dare hold their heads high … and the many ignoramuses who lash out against G-d and Talmidei Chachamim … in permitting Issur Arayos"; protest by Rabbi Zerach Horowitz, handwritten and signed by him, against conditional marriage (Nissu’in al Tnai). Worcester, Massachusetts, [1935].

[1] leaf, official stationery, handwritten and signed by him. It is noticable that the writer found writing the letter difficult and he even notes after his signature that "I know that all my above words are in complete disarray since I wrote hurriedly on an urgent matter".

Rabbi Zerach Horowitz – Rav in Worcester, Massachusetts, a member of the Union of Rabbis of the USA and Canada and one of the supporters of Ezras Torah who was close to the Admorim of Chabad. A letter by the Rebbe the Rayatz to him appears in Igros Kodesh, VI. His name is included in the list of rabbis of the Union of Rabbis who signed, in 1935, a ban on those who suggested, in order to prevent Aginus, that during the Chupah, the bridegroom appoint the bride as an emissary for writing her Gett.
