Letter by the renowned Gaon Rabbi Shlomo Noson Kotler author of ‘Kerem Shlomo’ to the Gaon Av Beis Dinof Shavil Rabbi Yosef Zecharya Stern about the Shechita of small cattle and their kashruth in America. Late 1910s.
A lengthy letter by the Gaon Rabbi Shlomo Noson Kotler, the first Rosh Yeshiva of the Slabodka Yeshiva and of the Rabbi Yitzchak Elchonon Yeshiva in New York, Av Beis Din of Ozvent and author of the Seforim Kerem Shlomo and Beis Shlomo.
The letter was sent to his teacher and Rav the great Gaon Rabbi Yosef Zecharya Stern Av Beis Din of Shavil, one of the most important Geonim of his generation and one of the fighters against Zionism.
The letter discusses the cry of animal-owners and the ways small cattle can be rendered Kosher in America.
The Gaon Rabbi Shlomo Noson Kotler [1855-1936). a leading disciple of Rabbi Eliezer Gordon of Telz, Rabbi Yaakov Charif and Rabbi Yitzchal Elchonon and Rabbi Yosef Zecharya Stern. Was the Rav of Ozvent, near Kovno, the first Rosh Yeshiva of the Slabodka Yeshiva and of the Rabbi Yitzchak Elchonon Yeshiva in New York. His son-in-law is the renowned Gaon Rabbi Yaakov Moshe harlap.
