Letter handwritten by the Gaon Rabbi Yehoshua Zelig Diskin the Rav of Pardes Chana to Rabbi Binyomin Mintz with a request for an immigration certificate for his relatives. 1948.
The letter was sent in 1948, at the onset of the War of Independence, to Rabbi Binyomin Montz, a leader of Poalei Agudas Yisroel, with a request to help the immigration of Rabbi Diskin’s brother, Rabbi Aharon Yaakov, who was in exile near Paris, and his brother-in-law, Rabbi Zvi Slavin, after having suffered persecution in Russia.
The Gaon Rabbi Yehoshua Zelig Diskin [1898-1971] the Rav of Pardes Chana, a leading education and Mussar figure who was close to the Chazon Ish. His son-in-law was the Rosh Yehsiiva of Ponovezh, the great Gaon Rabbi Gershon Edelstein.
